The Cary Photographic Artists meets at 7:00 p.m., on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at The Cary theatre, 122 E. Chatham St., Cary, unless otherwise noted. Map to Parking at The Cary - Please observe parking restrictions.

If you wish, come early at 6:30p.m. and join in our social time. It is a great opportunity to spend a few minutes catching up with friends, getting to know fellow members, introducing your guest around, exchanging ideas and generally having a nice time before the program starts!

Meeting Highlights

June 13 - Members Only Show and Tell
Members should email 1- 4 images to
To be viewed at their best via our projector, images should be sized per the following: vertical images - the tall side should be 1050 pixels, square images - 1050 pixels, horizontal images - the long side should be 1400pixels (height no more than 1050 pixels). For interested Lightroom users, exporting information can be found in articles 12A-12C on the CPA website Education page. There is no theme or subject requirement. You may submit your best images or works in progress. We will have open discussion on the images as they are viewed.
 
June 27 - Tommy White: Crafting your Masterpiece! Mastering your Vision to create Impact
Tommy is a full time photographer in Boone with a background in art. See examples of his work HERE.
He will discuss:
  1. How to shoot for effect: The differences in using filters, exposure blending and other tricks to tame the light.
  2. Planning your shoot: Reading the weather to get the most from your shoot. Choosing a weather specific location.
  3. Vision: How to envision your shot, compose it, and capture what you see. Framing to maximize subject, balance and harmony.
  4. You caught it, now the selection process: How to choose the correct image for editing and why is this important
  5. Post Processing to meet your vision: Creating Impact and Mood - packed full of techniques and visual comparisons!!
